  • The chimneybreast is mirrored, with narrow colonettes, inspired by Charles Cameron’s work in the apartments of Catherine II at Tsarskoye Selo, itself inspired by Roman frescoes.
  • The diminishing door architraves echo the ancient practice of doors narrowing towards the head.
  • The door leafs follow a form used by Charles de Wailly in the late-18th century at his exquisite, & alas mostly demolished château of Montmusard.
