Country House in Cambridgeshire
18th Century
JA 2012
- Significant alterations in the early-18th century certainly result from the interest shown in the house by Wriothelsey, 3rd Duke of Bedford, the only member of the Russell family ever to reside here.
- The service accommodation was extended, & the original portion of the house, facing the abbey & the village green, was refronted with ashlar stone & flush-box sash windows, & the rooms inside this range all fitted with raised-and-fielded panelling & matching two-panelled doors (alas mostly burnt in the 1970s).
