Doric Island Unit

- This is a design for a kitchen island unit that was to house a sink, & 2 kitchen appliances.
- The treatment of the front was initially inspired by a traditional sideboard. Robustness appropriate to a kitchen suggested the use of baseless Greek Doric columns for the legs.
- This idea then extended into the treatment of the upper portion inspired by a Doric entablature with its frieze of alternating triglyphs & metopes.
