- The model for the bolection-moulded fire surround was one that survived in the adjacent room.
- The mouldings of panels were kept simple so as not to overwhelm the comparatively simple panelling in the room, & the joinery to be painted a drab green, to match the existing.
- The upper panel is proposed to have an overmantel painting specially commissioned; the lower to be set with antiqued mirror-glass.
