Seaton Delaval
- Seaton Delaval, 1723-, Sir John Vanburgh.
- The north front is dominated by the great hall, which is heavily rusticated, & has each corner tightly clasped by three giant Doric columns.
- The basement of the house is faced with pulvinated banding, as though being compressing under the weight of the house, & adding to the sense of brooding monumentality.
