- The treatment of the ground floor is influenced by the work of Michele Sanmicheli, whose Porta Palio in Verona (c.1530) it closely resembles.
- The unusual topping of the cornices with pan-tiles, along with the hipped pan-tiled roofs above, gives the pavilions, & the two end bays of the main block an almost Chinese feel.
